Telugu Film Chamber denounces Nandi awards
The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, the apex body of the Telugu film industry, ruled out any connection with the upcoming TFCC Nandi Awards to be held in Dubai next month. “We have no links with the Nandi awards function which is going to be organised in Dubai on September 24. It is a private event organized by one individual named Ramakrishna Goud,” said a statement.
The statement added, “The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce is the apex body of Telugu film industry. We along with the Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce are not part of this event,” it added.
They further claimed that the upcoming Nandi Awards is a personal event of Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce Chairman P RamaKrishna Goud. “This association is not even recognized by the Government of Telangana. Hence, we condemn the use of the word Nandi, which is the patent right of the united Andhra Pradesh government. When we checked with the officials in the governments in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, they were clueless about it,” it added,
Back in the day, the Nandi Awards starting from 1964, were a prestigious awards ceremony held by the united Andhra Pradesh government honouring the best actors, directors, and producers from the Telugu film industry for their aesthetic and unique work. Later, it was discontinued by both governments.
