Women-centric films are the need of the hour, says Apsara Rani
Apsara Rani continues to pick up interesting roles. After giving great performances in special numbers in various films, she will now play the lead in Talakona.
The Nagesh Naradasi directorial, launched on Thursday, is produced by Mangala Sharma and D. Sridhar Reddy. “I play a model and a pageant winner.
It’s a serious and intense role. The film talks about several contemporary issues,” says Apsara who has commenced shooting for her part. The interesting twists in the second half were what motivated her to sign the film, she adds.
“I have always chosen films with strong scripts, and they won me fame. This is my first crime thriller, so I am all the more excited,” she says, adding that the icing on the cake is that the film is a female-centric one. “I think women-centric films are the need of the hour. Films like Talakona offer great scope for me to perform. My role is little different from the usual glamorous stuff; it’s always exciting to try different roles,” she says. And for the first time Apsara will be seen pulling off action sequences. She will soon start training for it.
