Directing a spoof
Comedian Srinivas Reddy turns director with Bhagyanagar Veedhullo Gammathu. He shares how the film’s comic actors refused to take remuneration until after the film’s release.
Comedian Srinivas Reddy turns director with his upcoming film Bhagyanagar Veedhullo Gammathu. He also plays the lead actor in the film and has roped in many other comedians for the film. “One of my film shoots got postponed for nearly 20 days. Around then, my friend Varam came up with a storyline. We discussed and developed it into a story, and that’s how this film happened,” recounts Srinivas Reddy.
Initially, Srinivas says he had wanted to produce the film. “But there were a lot of comedians roped in, and I didn’t know if any other director could handle all these people, so I decided to take up the direction,” says the actor on being asked what made him choose the director’s role.
But you can see he is already touched by these comedians’ collective gesture. “They haven’t taken any remuneration for the film. They tell me that they’ll take it once the film releases and have assured me that they’d help in any way I want,” adds an emotional Srinivas.
Then, adding that he’d narrated the story to director Anil Ravipudi who asked him to proceed with it, Srinivas says that the film is basically an entertainer. “The film is a spoof and takes a comical look at some of the topics that have gone viral on social media in recent times,” reveals Srinivas Reddy.
