A couple of years ago, Telangana State Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had announced his plans to turn the two popular studios Ramanaidu and Annapurna into commercial centres, while offering them land elsewhere in the city. However, it appears that D. Suresh Babu, who owns the studios, is not happy with the idea.
“Yes, the government approached us with their proposal, but we rejected it. Ramanaidu Studios is my father’s dream and pride and it’s a big landmark. It’s not easy to build a studio, but my father was very passionate about films, and struggled to build it up there,” says Suresh Babu, adding that the studio stands in memory of his father.
Interestingly, when the film industry first shifted from Chennai to Hyderabad, there were only a few takers, including Ramanaidu, Krishna’s family, ANR and family, Shyam Prasad Reddy and Tammareddy Bharadwaj.
“At that time, many people were against the idea of shifting to Hyderabad, but a few of us did and slowly developed the industry here. This studio is my father’s dream and we want it to be like that as long as possible,” says Suresh Babu.
