Ram Pothineni finds his following
Ram Pothineni is still fresh out of the success of his recent flick, iSmart Shankar. Now, the actor has earned another distinction, and this time on the digital platform. He’s become the first lead actor from the south to have three movies with more than 100 million views (Hindi dubbed) on YouTube.
Nenu Sailaja (which was released as The Super Khiladi 3 in Hindi) garnered 105 million views; Vunnadi Okate Zindagi (dubbed as No. 1 Dilwala in Hindi) garnered 118 million views and Hello Guru Prema Kosame (dubbed in Hindi as Dumdaar Khiladi) crossed 100 million views on YouTube.
Ram is obviously excited. “It’s a great feeling and I feel honoured. It also gives me a sense of gratification that my films are being appreciated by people around the world and across all regions,” he says, adding that the humongous numbers have given him a great chance to connect with wider audience. The numbers are a testimony to the fact that people appreciate content-driven films irrespective of the platforms. However, what surprises me is that all the three films are love stories.”
Ask the actor whether this feat will change the way he chooses scripts, Ram explains, “Not really. But, yes, we do keep in mind the audience from other regions as well. As the Hindi segment is a huge market, this surge in digital numbers will further encourage us to choose scripts that are universal,” he adds.
So does he plan on making his Bollywood debut? “People keep asking me this, but I am open to working in all industries. It’s just that I need to get the right script to crack it,” states the Pandaga Chesko actor.
