Maa oori Polimera 2: Treasure hunt blends with black magic for exciting fare

With latest Telugu film "Maa Oori Polimeru 2" drawing crowds to theatres in two Telugu states, it looks like the fascination for mystical Black Magic still holds interest among the audience. Even though, Part I was released on OTT a year ago, the makers seamlessly integrated two parts to attract new generation audience. With the film packed with characters who showcase varied shades like grey and dark to keep viewers glued to their seats-guessing about further movement of the story.

Interestingly, black magic has always been interesting topic in reel and real-life too because it is appealing, enduring and mystical!! Just add to it a story in Hinterlands of India where age old customs and beliefs prevail even now.

Coming back the movie, each character starts off well and slowly change colors to grip the audience. In the film, you can’t trust any character hailing from rural India landscape with everyone suspecting the other over black magic and all running over each other for a mystical gold in the temple premises. This mystical visual cocktail presented on the screen is exciting, stimulating and gripping.

More than the story, which revolves around a brother who sets out to find his missing brother accused of black magic and believed to be dead is found in Kerala practicing black magic and sorcery to unearth temple treasure, ala Padmanabha Swamy temple treasure.

In this village, people from govt to police to village sarpanch are forming groups to unearth the treasure and many dying mysteriously with another powerful gang appearing in the end making way for part 3.

Kudos to director Anil Viswananth for his breath-taking visuals and with mantras uttered during black magic rituals in the forests of Kerala reverberating and unique sorcery settings make this movie an engaging mystery thriller.

Planning to watch a movie and want to beWitched this week, go for this film loaded with black magic mania. No doubt, spirits-black or white- surely, won't disappoint you.
