From hot to versatile
Payal Rajput seems to be upping her penchant for versatility. The actress had won accolades for her performances in her first two films, RX 100 and RDX Love. She had started off as a self-confident, independent girl in RX 100 and followed it up with the lover-girl act in RDX Love. Both those films, however, brought her the ‘hot girl’ tag.
“I’ve had enough of that tag, and now I am bored of being called ‘hottie’,” says Payal, adding that she now wants to target all sections of the audience.
And it looks like her transition from the glamourous diva to girl-next-door would be complete with her next film, the Ravi Teja-starrer Disco Raja, in which she’ll be seen as a mute and hearing-impaired girl.
Talking about her role, Payal shares, “Learning the sign language was challenging. Although we hired a teacher who comes on the sets to teach us, it was director Vi Anand who explained the language to me by doing it himself first.”
In another of her forthcoming films, which is a Parandeep-directorial, Payal plays the role of a super cop. And it looks like it’s bringing her the satisfaction she seeks. Describing it as one of the strongest roles she’s played, the RX100 actress adds, “The character will be on the lines of Mardaani 2. I am a huge fan of Rani Mukherji and Angelina Jolie, and have followed their films closely to get a hang of the nuances to my part. This role gives me an edge and has satiated my creative appetite.”
