The story chose the characters, says \'Kalyanam Kamaneeyam\' director Anil Kumar Aalla

Amid the biggies in the Sankranti box office race, there’s a small film, Kalyanam Kamaneeyam, vying for attention. Directed by Anil Kumar Aalla, the romantic drama stars Santosh Shoban and Priya Bhavani Shankar.

“The film is about what predicaments a newlywed couple faces and how they come out of that mess,” says the director, adding that the story is inspired by real-life situations. “Some of them have actually happened to me and my friends. I wove a fictional narrative around them,” he shares.

Simply put, Kalyanam Kamaneeyam is about what the couple learnt from their mistakes, and the situations.

Anil cast Santosh because of the actor’s boy-next-door looks, and Priya, because of her fresh appeal to the Telugu audience and mature look. “I have to say that the story chose the characters; this is a plot-driven film, and when I narrated it, both the actors were excited to come on board,” says the director.
