Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty Review/Analysis:

Amidst cliched love stories in Tollywood, here comes a trendy and matured love theme—“Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty"—like a breath of fresh air for the audience who have had enough of routine stuff.

Anushka Shetty deserves a pat for portraying a bold role, almost for the first time in her chequered career, where she breaks the societal norms and looks for an eligible bachelor to conceive through ‘artificial insemination’ without any strings attached. She puts in a restrained performance as a star chef, who doesn’t trust the institution of marriage, after seeing her mother (Jayasudha) suffer post separation from her spouse. Similarly, Naveen Polishetty, surely a bundle of talent, delivers another spirited performance as a standup comedian who falls in love with Anushka, when she okays him for her ‘mission’, but gets emotionally connected to the process and is later disappointed when she makes it an emotion-free relationship.

“I belong to the use and throw zone and not lover or bro zone,” he claims in the film sarcastically, summing up his character. Young director Mahesh Babu certainly deserves a thunderous round of applause for beautifully blending a bold theme with loads of humour to convey his point that independent women can make their choices through advanced science without feeling guilty.

Performances

Anushka, who did powerful larger-than-life roles in films like "Arundhati" and "Bhagamathie", returning with a bold role is a wonderful move. The actress proved that she is game for variety by showcasing her versatility in a trendy role, which shows her as being unconventional.

Naveen Polishetty, who rocked the screens with his comic timing in ‘Jathiratnalu again showcases his excellent flair for comedy and his satires on love, marriage and middle class couple's love moments leaves the audience in splits. Senior actors like Murali Sharma, Tulasi and Nasser pull off their roles effortlessly.

Remember the Bollywood blockbuster ‘Vicky Donor’ where the importance of sperm donors was narrated humorously without diluting its seriousness? Well, now, it is the turn of young director Mahesh Babu to pick a similar subject, but blend a beautiful tale around it and deliver a heart-warming love story between a youngster and older woman with dignity and respect. It appears, new Telugu directors are surely thinking different and are not afraid to experiment with bold themes.
