Varasudu release delayed

Hyderabad: The release of Vijay’s Varasudu was postponed to January 14. Film producer Dil Raju said that the Telugu version of Vijay’s Varisu (Tamil) was being delayed in view of the release of big star movies – Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya and Balakrishna’s Veerasimha Reddy. Earlier, Varasudu was planned to be released on January 11 along with the Tamil Vaarisu.

Speaking to the reporters, Dil Raju said that Vaarisu will get released across the world on January 11 as planned. Only the Telugu version of the movie, Varasudu, will be released on January 14, he said, adding that the decision was taken after discussion with other big stars in the industry.

“I did not want the release of my movie to trouble either Chiranjeevi or Balakrishna’s films. They should not face problem due to my movie. Varasudu is a family entertainer. Earlier ‘Seetamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’ and ‘Satamanam Bhavati’ were released under our banner for Sankranti in different years and they enthralled the audience. Varasudu is a film of the same genre and we expect it to provide entertainment to the entire family,” he said.

Dil Raju said that the film industry was happy with his decision and that he was not feeling to have bowed down to pressure. People keep criticizing me always and it indicates that only trees having fruits would bear the brunt of stones. If the story of the movie is good, people will watch it irrespective of the language. ‘Kantara’ and ‘Love Today’ stand evidences of this fact, he said.

To a query on further delaying the release of Varasudu as it was just a dubbed movie, Dil Raju asked if the same treatment should be given to Telugu films. “Next, I have planned a movie with Ram Charan. Should I not release it in other states,” the ace producer asked.

Actor Srikanth, who was also present at the press conference, said that he was very happy to have worked with Vijay for the first time in Varasudu under the direction of Vamsi Paidipally. People will get connected with the movie as there are many family emotions in it, he said.
