Shruti Haasan set to make Cannes debut
Actress Shruti Haasan, who is busy working on director C. Sundar’s magnum opus Sangamithra, a trilingual in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi, is set to make her Cannes debut at the 70th edition of the film festival this year, where the film is set to be unveiled.
The film, which also stars Jayam Ravi and Arya as the male leads, is the story of a warrior princess (played by Shruti) from the 8th century and will be formally announced at the opening night of the film festival on May 18.
Talking about the debut, Shruti shares, “I am very happy that our film is going to reach an international audience through the prestigious platform.”
She adds, “I am certain that this story will connect with both the national and international viewers and we all are quite excited to start the journey of our film from here.”
Shruti will be joined by Sundar, Arya and Ravi along with the film’s producers from Thenandal Studios.
Interestingly, the film’s team seems to have taken a cue from the Baahubali series and have decided to position the film at a big platform right from the start. The film will be made as a two part venture.
