Partnering for success
Gopichand started his career as a baddie. But he rose to fame with his second and third outings, Jayam (2002) and Nijam (2003), respectively, both of which were directed by Teja. Gopichand subsequently took on protagonist roles.
Now, almost after 16 years, Gopichand is teaming up with Teja again. Buzz is that both the actor and director are likely to lock in a script that would be an action flick, one of Gopichand’s favourite genres. Teja, who gave Gopichand the break he needed in films, seems to know the actor’s flaws and how to portray him.
“Both the actor and director recently met and spoke at length about the script. While the project is still in its nascent stages, Gopichand and Teja are glad to team up again and recreate their onscreen magic,” a source tells us.
The upcoming film is also likely to have another protagonist, with Teja currently scouting for another actor.
“Teja wants to cast a performer in another role to make sure that the film will be a slick-action drama,” adds the source.
Gopichand hasn’t been enjoying the best of stints at the box office lately, but he believes Teja’s project could give him the required breather.
