Vaishnavi Chaitanya joins the league of influencers turning actresses! She was popular as a YouTuber, until director Sai Rajesh roped her in for his upcoming film, Baby. He apparently saw Vaishnavi’s performance in her short videos and cast her as leading lady.
“When the director first approached me for the part, I was surprised that he chose to cast me in such a challenging role. But he said he noticed that I was able to give my videos a different spin with my quirkiness and versatility and that validation from a filmmaker was satisfying for me,” she shares.
Vaishnavi says the film role is a big leap in her acting career. “Doing a layered character in my first film itself was challenging. And the drastic transformation arc my character, a student, goes through was satisfying,” she shares. The actress is confident that the audience will be able to relate to her role.
Revealing that she had handled rejections at auditions ‘with a smile’, Vaishnavi also said, “honestly at times it was very disheartening. But I think perseverance is key; just focus on what you do best and results will surely follow.” The actress, who is a trained classical dancer, says “Dance brought out my expressive side and has got me to where I am now.”
