Top producer hails Pawan Kalyan as visionary, hits campaign dust
Leading producer Bogavalli Venkata Sathyanarayana Prasad (BVSN Prasad), who delivered blockbusters like 'Atharintiki Dharedi,' 'Nannaku Prematho' and 'Virupaksha' is the only Telugu producer to hit the campaign trail in the ongoing Telangana Assembly elections. He holds a key post in the Jana Sena Party and is campaigning for their candidate, Miriyala Ramakrishna, for the Khammam assembly seat. "Pawan Kalyan is giving priority to youngsters while disbursing tickets, and it augurs well for society," says Bogavalli Prasad in an exclusive interview with Deccan Chronicle.
How is your new journey as a politician?
No doubt, I am enjoying my new work. I had spent a lot of time dishing out films, and now I am supporting Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena Party since he is an honest and committed politician who intends to do good to people. He is a visionary with many good ideas up his sleeve. Interestingly, I have found some similarities between cinema and politics. Both are meant to attract people, and people themselves decide their fate. I was in Khammam to support our candidate, Miriyala Ramakrishna, and the crowd's response was overwhelming. I have been appointed as an observer for the constituency, and I'll be closely observing our campaign's progress in the coming days.
Did you hit the campaign trail for the first time? How does it feel?
Honestly, I am not new to campaigning since, during my college days in 1985, I aggressively campaigned for my kin, who was contesting on the TDP ticket in my region. However, I can't do door-to-door campaigning now, considering my age, but I will support our candidate tooth and nail and reach out to people as much as possible. More than any post, I am with the Jana Sena Party for liking Pawan Kalyan since I have known him since the days of 'Atharintiki Dharedi.' I am also happy that Pawan prioritizes youngsters while distributing tickets, and it augurs well for society. I am also gearing up for the Parliament elections and the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections next year.
What about your film productions?
My son Bapineedu is handling our productions, so I have free time to indulge in political space. He is adept in judging good stories and dishing out blockbusters with meticulous planning and on specified budgets. We have films with young actors Nikhil and Siddhu Jonalagadda on floors, and they are progressing briskly under his stewardship.
On Jana Sena Party contesting Telangana elections?
Contesting elections will boost the confidence and morale of Telangana state's party cadre, and they are on a new high after the announcement of candidates for assembly seats. We are all working hard to ensure more wins despite competition from rival parties in the state.
