In an industry that blatantly discriminates against its actresses on the basis of their age, Shriya Saran might have just bagged one of the biggest projects of her career. The 36-year-old actress has just landed in a significant role in the Baahubali web series, Before the Beginning.
Although Shriya’s role has been kept under wraps, it is believed that the actress will be playing a substantial part in the project. Mrunal Thakur, on the other hand, has been cast as the lead, Sivagami.

Deva Katta and Praveen Sattaru, who are helming the web series, selected Shriya after watching her performance in the historical drama Gauthamiputra Satakarini.
A source in the know says, “The filmmakers found Shriya Saran’s expressions, gestures and body language in Gauthamiputra Satakarini to be apt for this period drama. They felt she could pull the role off with great flair and elegance. When she was approached for the project, she quickly gave her nod.”
Shriya is expected to join the sets soon, while other modalities are being sorted out.
