While we know Samantha always comes up with interesting choices of roles, she is now on to something she has never done before. For the first time, the Shakuntalam star will be seen in a zany special number in Allu Arjun-starrer Pushpa (Part 1). Sam’s surprise special number in the Sukumar-directorial is expected to be a major highlight in the film.
Sukumar’s penchant for special numbers in his films is well known. And most of the special songs in his films have been super hits. In Pushpa too, there’s a setup for a song to drive the narrative. The makers of the film, Mythri Movies, had apparently felt that Samantha could pull off the song convincingly. And when they approached her, they were pleasantly surprised when she was quick to oblige them.
A source informs, “The song is very peppy and groovy. Although this would be Samantha’s first special song, the reason the makers chose her was because of her expressiveness and her swift dance moves — and that too opposite someone like Allu Arjun who is an ace dancer.”
Interestingly, it was Sukumar and production house that gave Samantha her career biggest hit, Rangasthalam, in 2018. Hence, when the filmmakers approached her, she said yes to the special number as a token of gratitude, not to mention, the makers too felt very pleased about it.
Sam’s decision to do a special song may come in as a surprise to many. But this is not the first time an A-Lister has sizzled in a special number when in top form.
Pooja Hegde, Tamannaah, Shruti Haasan, Kajal, etc. have also been a part of special songs in their prime. Sam has just joined this bandwagon.
“While many haven’t seen Sam’s grooving skills yet, this song will surely flaunt her graceful moves. Her outfits too will be very surreal, complementing the theme of the number,” adds the source, stating that with perfectionist Sukumar at the helm of affairs, Sam’s enviable number will be nothing less than a class apart. The makers believe that the song will be a rage once released. They hope to commence shooting for this number later this month at a specially erected set in Hyderabad.
