Mrunal Thakur plays doting sister in Pippa
Amidst essaying lover girl roles in Telugu films like ‘Sita Ramam’ and ‘Hi Nanna’, pretty actress Mrunal Thakur played the role of doting sister in her latest Hindi film ‘Pippa’. She smokes with her brother Ishaan Khattar in the film and looks very simple and straight. She is ready to marry a dentist chosen by her parents. In varied interviews, she even claimed that she didn't mind playing sister to Ishaan as she doesn't believe in typecasting and being ‘boxed’ to a particular image. “She shouldn’t do sibling roles in Telugu films because it could dent her happening career a bit,” says a source.
He claims that 'sister’ roles are quite risky for an actress who wants to rule the roost as female lead in Telugu films. Right now, she has shared screen space with big names like Nani, Dulquer Salmaan and hotshot star Vijay Devarakonda. “She has to do more films with big heroes and avoid doing sister roles. After playing a sister role in ‘Bholaa Shankar’, Keerthy Suresh is finding it hard to get romantic lead roles in Telugu, despite looking good and being talented. Telugu filmmakers are adept in typecasting heroines and they don’t like to take chances,” he adds.
Meanwhile, Mrunal is looking forward to her next film ‘Hi Nanna’ and claims to be a playing a heart-touching role in this much-hyped family drama. She is also in talks for films with Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja. "Only heroine roles will help her career move upwards,' he concludes.
