Glam diva Anushka Shetty who proved her mettle in her comeback film ‘Miss Shetty Mister Polishetty’ is also in talks to do a sequel to her horror thriller ‘Bhagmathie’. "Anushka took a long break and received appreciation for her light-hearted performance in 'Miss Shetty.'..She matched the comic timing of young actor Naveen Polishetty elegantly," says a source.
With chances depleting for 30-plus heroines like Kajal Agarwal, Tamannah, Anushka will have to pick up more author-backed roles. "She is also in talks for Chiranjeevi's next film which is a socio fantasy but thereafter she has to get back to female-driven movies," he adds.
He recalls her illustrious career, where she shared screen space with superstar Rajnikanth(Lingaa), Prabhas(Mirchi), Mahesh Babu (Khaleja) and Nagarjuna (Damarukam) and with Venkatesh in 'Chintakayala Ravi'. "Most of these actors would be looking to work with newer heroines, so Anushka has to look beyond routine star-centric movies," he points out.
Actually, Anushka has triggered the trend of sorts with spooky thrillers ‘Arundhathi’ and historical drama ‘Rudhrama Devi’ and psychological thriller ‘Bhaagmathie’ and proved her versatile acting besides crowd pulling prowess.
"She was a trailblazer of sorts in choosing interesting author-backed roles and soon other actresses followed suit. Even though her last film ‘Nishabhdam’ didn’t impress, she is offered female-oriented movies," he concludes.
