A few decades back, the Vangaveeti and Devineni families were big names in Vijayawada. Several films were made about these families and their rivalry. Devineni is the latest in this list. It is directed by Sivanagu.
Nandamuri Tarakaratna plays the role of Devineni Nehru while Suresh Kondeti is enacting Vangaveeti Ranga’s part. The last bit of shooting is being completed. It’s a song shot on Vangaveeti Ranga and his wife Ratna Kumari and how Nehru supported their marriage.
The film showcases how the erstwhile friends became enemies. “There are also some important scenes like Gandh’s (Nehru's elder brother Gandhi) assassination.”
The Devineni and Vangaveeti families still live in Vijayawada and how members of these families respond to the film remains to be seen.
