Shayari transported me to a bygone era, says Chiranjeevi
Chiranjeevi has lent his voice to an upcoming Telugu film, Rangamarthanda, and for the first time in his career, recited shayari in Telugu. Although the Megastar doesn’t appear in the film directed by Krishna Vamsi, his poetic discourse as the titles begin to run, gives a very good effect, he says.
Chiranjeevi said when Krishna Vamsi first approached him, he had wondered why he was chosen in preference to others. “But the director explained that he needs the voice of an actor who can bring his vast experience and knowledge to bear, and felt that my personality would add value, so I was convinced,” said Chiru.
Rangamarthanda, starring Prakash Raj, is about the loneliness of an actor. Chiranjeevi says he owned the story and gave the voiceover as if he was telling the story of his own life. “I was so happy when Maestro Ilaiyaraaja garu appreciated my voice. The music and lyrics of the shayari transported me to a bygone era,” Chiru adds.
