My Growth Has Been Very Organic: Seerat Kapoor

Seerat Kapoor is stepping into her 10th year in the film industry. Having started her career with Vivek Agnihotri’s directorial Zid in 2014, she went on to act in several Telugu and Hindi films. The actress is glad she has been able to make a name for herself.

“The growth has been very organic and quite fulfilling,” she said.

Asked what worked for her, she replied that it was picking scripts that suit her personality. “Also, since I come from an artistic background (she did theatre and was trained in ballet, funky pop, street jazz), it helped me select roles that bring out my potential and validate me as an actor,” she shared.

Ever since her first Telugu film, Run Raja Run in 2014, she considers Hyderabad home. The city’s response to her has been very encouraging and she feels comfortable being part of Tollywood,

Seerat revealed. “More than my looks, it was my performance and
clinical approach to acting that have been doing the talking,” she
said, adding that she was lucky to bag happening projects and
also get recognition.

The actress, who is wrapping up the shooting of Aakasam Dati Vasthava, a musical love story, has signed another film under director Shravan.

Said to be a psychological thriller, the film, produced by Malkapuram Sivakumar also features JD Chakravarthy and Naresh Agastya. “I was approached for the part after the makers saw my earlier performances. I liked the character and did a look test and a photoshoot in the character costumes.

The makers felt I was suited for the role,” Seerat said. Seerat, who was also part of Raju Gari Gadhi 2, a horror thriller, says the psychological thriller was her first film in the genre. She plays a girl who faces hardships in life, but comes across as a sensible person. “My character’s approach to life is optimistic. It gave me an opportunity to be spontaneous and improvise on the sets to elevate the narrative
and my character arc — that’s because it was a well-written role, the
actress added.
