Return of the native: Rohit Sirigiri
Rohit Sirigiri is making his debut with C/O Godavari, thus fulfilling a wish he had for a very long time. It has been an eventful life for the 26-year-old, who grew up in New Zealand, moved to Hyderabad for his undergrad but then settled in Australia to look after his family’s agricultural business. “Even in the midst of all this, I have always loved acting. As a kid, I never left an opportunity to perform on stage. I’ve dabbled in theatre and it was a very enriching experience. I am glad to be finally acting in a film,” he says. About his business, Rohit says, “I am in charge of operations in Australia, where we grow tomatoes.”
Ask him if it was tough to move out of his comfort zone and become an actor and he says, “I have now begun to think that acting is easier because it is something I am very passionate about! It was a completely new experience and felt like an adventure. More than the film, it was the places and the people that excited me.” He adds, “I had a workshop with director Ram Mohan before beginning the film. From body language to the regional dialect of Godavari, I worked on everything. It took me a while but eventually, I felt at ease.” As for the future, Rohit says, “I am waiting for the film’s release to see how it is received. Even if I get an average rating, I’d be motivated to go ahead and work harder.”
