Voter in trouble?
While most actors would do anything to release their films, Manchu Vishnu is doing exactly the opposite! Although the actor’s film Voter is all set to hit the screens this Friday, a source reveals that the exhibitors are getting threatening calls from his friends. The film landed itself in a controversy early on after director G. Karthik Reddy complained to the Telugu Film Directors’ association against Manchu Vishnu. The same letter was subsequently released to the media, but a few days later, the director issued a statement that all the differences were resolved.
Things did not however, end there. Manchu Vishnu later sent a legal notice to the director accusing him of lifting the film’s screenplay from his father’s film, Assembly Rowdy. Interestingly, although the film was slated for release a long time back, NRI producer Sudheer Pudota recently came to Hyderabad to release it this Friday. “Some of the exhibitors and distributors are getting calls not to release the film,” says the source.
This, despite the fact that the producer has cleared the payments of all the artistes. “Yes, I have paid dues to all the artistes and technicians. The film has got the censor clearance and is ready to release,” says Sudheer, clarifying that the story has been written by the director himself.
