Last month, Alia Bhatt announced that she would be part of Jr NTR’s next film, directed by Koratala Siva. But since then, a series of sudden developments, like her marriage with Ranbir and a couple of Hindi assignments have prompted a change in plans.
The Gangubhai actress was approached for the role because of her pan-Indian appeal, apart from her good looks. Also, she fit the role well and makes a charming pair with Jr NTR.
But Alia seems to have backed off from the film and the makers are wasting no time in looking for a replacement.
“The film is likely to go on the floors in June, and Koratala has already started looking for a replacement. The team is looking for an actress who has a nation-wide appeal. Rashmika Mandanna is being considered for the part, although they are yet to zero in on her,” says a source, adding that since Rashmika hasn’t been paired with Jr NTR so far, she’ll be an apt choice.
