Project K titled Kalki 2898 AD, hints at Lord Vishnu's Avatar
HYDERABAD: After not so impressive first look, the much-awaited glimpse of Project-K has been released amid much fanfare at the ongoing San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) in the US. Besides showing a glimpse, the makers also announced the title of the movie as Kalki 2898AD, replacing the working title of Project K. Superstars Prabhas and Kamal Haasan released the teaser at the event titled ‘This is Project K: First Glimpse of India’s Mytho-Sci-fi Epic’. A multi-lingual sci-fi film, project K has been directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies.
“When the World is taken over by Darkness, a Hero Rises,” it says in the video. The glimpse of Kalki 2898AD shows a war-torn world in the future, where people seem to be ruled by dark forces and technology and are treated violently and brutally by the oppressor. The video shows the lines, “When the world is taken over by darkness, a force will arise. The end begins now.” In the glimpse, Deepika’s character is a recruit in the army who seems to be caught up in emotional turmoil, whereas Prabhas’s character is seen as a brave warrior who rises to the occasion to save his world.
Amitabh’s character is also seen in the glimpse as an intense, warrior draped in bandages. At one point, a character is seen asking, “What is Project K”.
In simple terms, Kalki, according to mythology, is supposed to be the final incarnation of Vishnu, who is yet to appear. At the end of the present age, also called Kalyug or Kali-yuga, when dharma has completely disappeared and the world is ruled by oppressors, Kalki will come to the earth to end the oppression and start a new world.
