Samrat Reddy is probably most well-known for his role in Anushka-starrer Panchakshari where he played the actress’ husband and father to a young kid. While the film gave him a lot of exposure, the actor rues about how that film branded him as the quintessential fiancé.
“I was being approached with similar roles and I agreed to do some of them. But then, I thought it was enough and decided to take a gap if necessary. I haven’t done a film in a while, and now with Kittu Unnadu Jagratha, I am back, and might I say, with a bang,” he says with a laugh.
The film which sees him playing Arbaaz Khan’s brother stars Raj Tarun as the male lead and Samrat is quite satisfied with the way his role has shaped up. “The character has got grey shades and also has an emotional angle. I should really thank my director Vamsi for the film,” he shares adding that working with Arbaaz was a huge learning experience. “He is such a professional actor and a fun person to work with. Most of my scenes are with him, and I really got to learn a lot from him,” he shares.
Samrat, who’s got a background in theatre is involved in his family business, but says his focus is on acting. “Because it’s my passion and I want to be challenged and play versatile roles. I am willing to explore other film industries too,” says the actor who has a couple of films in Kannada and Malayalam in the pipeline.
