Vizag boy Ranjith somi trying his hand at films
Ranjith Somi, who hails from Visakhapatnam, is all set to test his calibre in films with his upcoming film Juvva, directed by Trikoti. “This is my second film” says Ranjith, adding that it is different from his earlier film Dikkulu Choodaku Ramayya. “It’s a love story, but Trikoti has added drama to it. The story revolves around love and obsession,” he says.
Top music director M.M. Keeravani has provided the music. “His music is going to be the highlight of the film,” says Ranjith, who adds that his brother Bharath is the producer. “We wanted to produce the film on our own as we wanted to come out with a quality film. We shot in different places and the entire climax scene took only 13 days with 500 junior artistes,” he reveals.
Interestingly, Ranjith completed his MBA in Hyderabad and then tried his hand at films. “While studying here, I simultaneously tried my luck in films,” says Ranjith, adding, “Though I got a few opportunities, I wanted to play lead actor. So I waited for the right time and then, we decided to produce our own film.”
Malayalam actor Arjun will be making his Telugu debut with this film. “He is playing a negative role and the scenes between Arjun and me are intense,” says Ranjith.
Although they initially chose Jintha tha tha as the film’s title, Rajamouli and Keeravani advised the director to change it. “Director Trikoti garu worked with Rajamouli earlier, and the latter suggested that people may assume that it is Ravi Teja’s film, so he advised him to change it. That’s when we finalised Juvva,” reveals Ranjith.
