HYDERABAD: Senior Telugu actor Sarath Babu, who had been battling prolonged illness breathed his last at a private hospital in Hyderabad.
The noted actor was brought to AIG Hospitals on 20th April 2023 in critical condition with multiorgan failure because of multiple Myeloma.
As an immunocompromised patient, he was under the care of a multidisciplinary team and was supported with mechanical ventilator for lungs, dialysis support for kidney among other therapies. He succumbed to his illness in spite of the best resuscitative measures.
A few weeks ago, there were social media reports of his death, which his family had rubbished saying he was responding to treatment.
But on Monday, his family shared the news that the senior actor is no more.
"We are saddened to report that beloved actor Shri Sharath Babu passed away this afternoon at 13:32 hours following a month-long hospitalization."
From character artiste and hero to playing father's roles, Sarath Babu was one of the most versatile actors in the South film industry. He had worked in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam movies.
Several Tollywood celebrities expressed shock over the news of Sarath Babu's death. Condolences have started pouring in for the actor's family.
