A penchant for parody

Abhishek Pathri's parody version of Inkem Inkem Inkem Kavaley has gone viral.

When Abhishek Pathri made a parody song based on Inkem Inkem Inkem Kavaley, a song from Vijay Devarakonda’s superhit film Geetha Govindam, little did he expect that it would send ripples across the internet. Over 1 lakh hits in two weeks; these numbers suggest Abhishek’s experiment has become a success.

A native of Nellore, Abhishek works as a quality engineer at a reputed automotive manufacturing company in Michigan, US. A little-known fact about him is that he is the grandson of veteran actor Basavaraju Venkata Padmanabha Rao (Padmanabham), a first generation actor of the Telugu industry known for his prowess in comedy. “My grandfather is my inspiration and even I wanted to become an actor. I have to thank my mother, father and sister who encouraged me all along,” says a happy Abhishek, who cites his family as his biggest asset.

“I can play the violin, flute, guitar, harmonica, etc. This has helped me as well,” says Abhishek who did his schooling in Satya Sai School at Puttaparthi, where he first got acquainted with the stage.

Incidentally, this song is not his first attempt at parody. He had staged several parody songs and comedy skits during his college days at K.L. University, Guntur, and bagged the best singer, actor and director prizes. He had also penned songs for some TV serials. But this particular song seems to have opened doors for him. Film producers and lyric writers have started approaching this youngster for their upcoming projects in Telugu.

“I’m very happy the song has received an unprecedented response. It was a surprise when well-known film personalities approached me and that has given me satisfaction,” Abhishek concludes.
