After a hiatus, glam diva Anushka Shetty is returning with her upcoming film ‘Ms Shetty Mr Polishetty’ which is touted to be a comic-caper. She is sharing screen space with new sensation Naveen Polishetty and their teaser didn’t really set the internet on fire, rather marked moderate response. “Anushka took a long break and she is hoping to regain her winning streak with a light-hearted entertainer and get busy with plum offers,” says a source.
With chances depleting for 30-plus heroines like Kajal Agarwal, Tamannah, Anushka will have limited choice hereafter. "Of course, she has worked with stars like Rajinikanth, Prabhas, Nagarjuna, Mahesh Babu and Balakrishna and now they may not repeat her. On the other hand, she may not be offered roles opposite new-age heroes,” he adds.
Realising this long back, Anushka has triggered the trend of female-centric movies with blockbusters like ‘Arundhathi’, ‘Rudhrama Devi’ and ‘Bhaagmathie’ and proved her versatile acting besides crowd pulling prowess. Eventually, she was hailed as a torch-bearer of lady-oriented movies in Telugu.
“She was trailblazer of sorts in doing author-backed roles and soon other actresses followed suit, to trigger a trend of sorts in Telugu. Even though her last film ‘Nisabhdam’ didn’t impress, she would like to do a few female-oriented movies,” he concludes.
