Mangalavaram struggles to surpass Maa Oori Polimera 2 at Box Office?

Despite drawing sensational openings “Mangalavaram’ is reportedly finding hard to outwit the box office collections of horror thriller ‘Maa Oori Polimera 2’ since there is dip in collections after Monday. “Mangalavaram has long way to go to beat the closing collections of ‘Maa Oori Polimera 2’ since there is dip in collections from Monday,” says a distributor and adds, “Till date, Mangalavaram has garnered Rs 9.5 crores net collections and still counting, while ‘Polimera 2’ had made over Rs 15 crores net collection in 20 days and the gap is bound to widen since new releases like ‘Adhikesava’ and ‘Dhruva Natchatram are arriving this Friday, so it will be bit difficult,” he informs.

If Maa Oorri Polimera 2 rides on mystery deaths and also supernatural elements as characters are fascinated with a treasure in a temple, while ‘Mangalavaram’ also starts off with mysterious deaths but they are connected to a woman who was suffering from a disorder like ‘nymphomania’ and is being ridiculed by villagers. “Both are set in village backdrop and revolve around villagers death but the big difference lies in why these killings are happening,’ he points out.

No doubt, director Ajay Bhupathi bounced back with an unique plot after a disaster like ‘Mahasamudram’, while director Anil Viswanath also sustains the mood and interest in the film with interesting screenplay in Maa Oori’. “Ajay who made a splash with ‘RX 100’ has again chosen a bold theme, while Anil is adept in dishing out spooky thrillers,” he concludes.
