Although no immediate member of the actor’s family is willing to go on record, there are very reliable sources close to the family who confirmed that Rana is indeed heading out of India for a kidney transplant.
Says a family friend, “We haven’t been told anything by the family. But there is very strong evidence of his illness. We’ve heard Rana is going to either Singapore or the US next week for a kidney transplant. We’ve also heard that his mother Lakshmi is donating her kidney.”
Earlier, there was talk that Naga Chaitanya’s mother, who is Rana’s paternal aunt, has agreed to donate her kidney but this rumour arose because her name too is Lakshmi.
The source says that Rana’s kidney trouble is genetic and has nothing to do with his filmi lifestyle where he’s expected to put gain weight like he did for Baahubali and lose it soon after for another film.
Suresh Babu denies
A source close to Rana’s father denied the news, said they are going nowhere and Rana is soon going to start shooting for his films, one of them being CM Chandrababu Naidu’s role in NTR’s biopic, directed by Krish Jagarla-mudi.
“Rana called Krish and is ready for the shoot. From Monday onwards he will sit with the director to hear the script. He also called the makers of Yaari No.1 and asked them to prepare for the shoot immediately,” added the source.
When contacted, Suresh Babu too denied the rumours. He said, “We don’t want to hide anything. If there’s any such news Rana will inform his fans on twitter.”
