Hosting is an extension of my persona: Mannara Chopra
HYDERABAD: After turning host for the I–Day celebrations at the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), at New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut in August last year, Mannara went on to host several international shows across the US. After the actress came back to India, she hosted a show in Delhi that featured Sonu Nigam a few days ago, and says this role is always exciting.
“This is my first show in India this year; I always admired Sonu Nigam, and seeing him perform live at the show was great,” Mannara says. “And to be a host in my hometown Delhi gave me a whole new vibe. I just couldn’t say No,” she asserts, adding that hosting is an extension of her acting personality. It gives her the opportunity to interact with more people, she explains, adding, “I can connect with people and get to know about them, and vice-versa. I can speak my heart out and show my versatility. So it’s been amazing.”
When she was first offered the opportunity to turn host in the US, she was thrilled. “And when filmmakers and actors called and appreciated my hosting skills I asked myself why I couldn’t continue it. When I can perform, sing and act, why not blend everything and turn host?” she thought to herself.
Asked how hosting complements her acting, she replies that acting is about living a character while hosting is an extension of her own persona. “As a host, people get to see the real me and understand how witty and spontaneous I can be, and how articulate I am. All these traits boost my acting too,” she asserts.
