No free advice from dad: Shruti Haasan
Shruti Haasan, who has been juggling between various art forms — singing, acting, production, and dance — credits her father Kamal Haasan for most of her success. The Katamarayudu star reveals that her father never went out of the way to advise her and that he left most of her decisions to herself.
“My father has very kindly let me be myself. He told me once that if I really wanted to act, then I should be able to do it well if I love my job. He believed that no third person can breathe soul into a character other than the actor who has been assigned to play the role. So whether right or wrong, I can reconcile with my decisions,” she explained.
Shruti bonds with her sister Akshara Haasan over music and dance. “But just like my father did to me, I have never offered any unsolicited advice to Akshara. We’re poles apart, and she needs to find her own rhythm. However, we’re always there to guide and support her through thick and thin,” Shruti said.
The actress will be seen next in the role of a gangster in the forthcoming Mahesh Manjrekar directorial Power. Shruti has been paired opposite Vidyut Jammwal in the dark action thriller, which is essentially a story of their rise in the underworld.
