Creative differences led to Rana-Gunasekhar s split

Director Gunasekhar is going all guns blazing against actor and producer Rana Daggubati for the last few days, for hijacking his story idea of 'Hiranyakashyap'.

"Frankly, they have been having a few creative differences over the projection of the demon king. It is well known that Rana was playing a demon king in the movie. Being a hero, he wanted some changes in his characterization to enhance and justify his actions and also establish his motives well. He also urged the director to showcase more on the father-son conflict (between Hiranyakashyap and his son Prahalad) and not to depict him as a regular baddie role," says a source.

He even reportedly referred to legendary NTR's role of 'Ravana' in 'Bhookailas' where he is shown as a great devotee of Lord Shiva and also his other traits were nicely established.

"NTR garu glorified and enhanced the role of Ravana, despite being a negative role, by depicting all shades of a human being, rather than just riding on one dark trait. Some viewers even fell in love with demon king Ravana. Hence, Rana was slowly losing his patience," he adds.

During this time, writer-director Trivikram Srinivas brought in a 'new version' and the scion of the Daggubati family lapped it up. "Trivikrama will be only providing the script, but the director was not named. Even Gunasekhar could have helmed it, but his tweet has widened the gap between them now. Let's wait and see," the source concludes.
