When filmmaker Rathinam Krishna cast Neha Shetty as the leading lady in Rules Ranjan, it didn’t come as a surprise because the actress was fresh from the super success of DJ Tillu.
However, the director stresses that he didn’t watch DJ Tillu before choosing her. “I thought she was a natural for the role of an urban girl,” he reveals.
When Neha came to meet the director, she asked Krishna to watch DJ Tillu. “But I did not want to watch the film and get influenced by her earlier performance,” smiles the director. Rules Ranjan is about how an average student (played by Kiran Abbavaram) becomes successful in life. Neha, who plays a dream girl kind of role, also proved her grooving skills in the dance numbers.
Interestingly, Neha herself dubbed for the film. “I didn’t know she speaks Telugu, so throughout the film we were talking in English. But during the post production, I learnt she speaks Telugu very well. So we decided to dub her voice,” says the director in conclusion.
