Pro-kannada Activists Force Siddarth to Walk Out of Press Meet
Today, during a press conference in Bengaluru, actor Siddharth made an unexpected exit when members of a pro-Kannada organization disrupted the event. Siddharth had come to promote his movie, 'Chithha' (known as 'Chikku' in Kannada).
Just as he was about to commence, individuals from the pro-Kannada organization stormed in and demanded the event's cancellation. Despite their interruptions, Siddharth attempted to address the audience and initiate the press conference.
However, the disruptions continued, with the group raising concerns about the timing of the event and urging Siddharth to express support for the Cauvery movement. As their agitation persisted, Siddharth rose from his seat, expressed his gratitude to the audience with folded hands, and left the press conference.
In a separate development, the Cauvery Water Regulatory Committee (CWRC) recommended that the Karnataka government release 3,000 cusecs (cubic feet per second) of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu for 18 days starting from September 28. The ruling Congress in Karnataka has now chosen to challenge these orders from the Cauvery panel in the Supreme Court.
The longstanding Cauvery water dispute between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka has once again come into the spotlight, leading to protests by farmers from both states who are demanding an equitable distribution of river water. These protests have disrupted normal life in Bengaluru, with pro-Kannada organizations calling for strikes. As a result, Karnataka is set to remain closed on September 29.
