Litmus test for Acharya
Megastar Chiranjeevi-starrer Acharya released on Friday amid huge expectations. The Koratala Siva directorial also features Ram Charan in a meaty role, and the audiences are getting to see him after the super success of RRR.
With the father-son duo sharing screen space, expectations were sky high. However, the film did not get an encouraging response. Almost all reviews said the film was below par — “outdated & lacklustre”, “insipid & uninspiring”, “A dated narrative”, most reviews said. However, the film had great openings because of its star cast, but the real test for the film will begin on Monday. Friday, Saturday and Sunday being the weekend, the film will be tested at the BO from Monday.
Chinni, Exhibitor and owner of Mohini Cinemas from Vizag, is optimistic that Acharya will do well. He says Charan and Chiranjeevi combination is one of the X factors the audience look forward to.
“Firstly, KGF and RRR have raised the expectations of big ticket films like Acharya. Although both films are different and massive, Acharya is a film that belongs to another category. Hence, we are confident that the film will do well, despite the mixed reviews,” says Chinni.
