Dasaradh joins new fad of director-turned-producers

Seasoned director Dasaradh joins the bandwagon of director-turned-producers in Tollywood and he is coming up with a touching love story ‘Love You Ram’. He intends to introduce new talents through his banner. He was known for blockbusters like ‘Santhosham’ and ‘Mr Perfect’.

Q: Have you turned a producer since some of your colleagues have donned a producer's hat?

A: I know that it has become a trend these days, but I was planning to turn producer long back but it materialized only now. If a director turns producer, he can plan things well and make films within stipulated budget due his long experience. Our experience will also help in selecting proper story that would connect with the audience

Q: You have made heart-touching love stories like ‘Mr Perfect’ and ‘Santhosham’? Will your production be any different?

A: I provided the story so it will be a soft and engaging love story like my earlier blockbusters. Because love stories are eternal themes and how you narrate and present it is the key. I have woven a story for new generation viewers with newcomers Rohit Behal and Aparna Janardanan in the lead and it is being helmed by debutant DY Chowdury.

Q: Being a director and producer, did you interfere while the film was in the making? Why did the film go over budget?

A: No way. Director Chowdhury was given a free hand and he did a good job. The film went over budget a bit during our schedule in Norway where we had to shoot for 12 days, otherwise every penny was under our control. We wanted to provide some picturesque locals for viewers. In fact, I never shot in Norway while I was a director but as a producer I had the opportunity to give that chance to another director.

Q: Audience tastes are changing drastically and are you prepared for it?

A: I admit that the taste of Telugu audiences has changed since they are exposed to world cinema these days. With OTTs dishing out varied entertainment, it has become a challenge for filmmakers to draw audiences into theatres. However, good films always work at the box office.
