Venkatesh looking for an image makeover
Close on the heels of playing a role with grey shades and also uttering a few cuss words in the web series ‘Rana Naidu, seasoned star Venkatesh is donning an anger-driven role in his upcoming film ‘Saindhav’ and surely, he is in a mood to experiment. “Probably, Venkatesh wants to break away from his soft and family man image and try out his hand in grey and dark roles,’ says a source, who claims that ‘Saindhav’ would be showcasing him a new avatar. “Gun-toting Venkatesh in the trailer has triggered some interest and he is going to do kick-ass action sequences before accomplishing his mission” he adds.
Earlier, the doting son of legendary Rama Naidu showcased his fiery side in ‘Narappa’ and proved that he could easily pull off down-to-earth roles with ease. However, his biggest hit in recent times was ‘F2’ where he established his flair for comedy to leave the audience in splits.
"Venkatesh was adept in lover boy-turned-family man roles and had many hits to his credit. Once in a while, he likes to dabble with varied roles. Now, he is going to flex his muscles in ‘Saindav’ and it would be a new avatar for his fans. Despite having a good physique and stamina, he was confined to comedy and self-piteous roles," he adds.
He reminds me of Venkatesh's earlier action-centric movies like 'Ganesh' and 'Gharshana'. “With his wholesome family entertainers like 'Malliswari' and 'Aduvari Matalaku Arthaley Veruley’ turning out to be blockbusters, he was asked to do more of such roles. With filmmakers wanting to mint money riding on his softer image, he just kept repeating himself," he points out.
With young actors like Nani and Naveen Polishetty doing laugh-riots, Venkatesh has resolved to tread a new path. "With younger heroes picking up family dramas and comic-capers, Venkatesh wanted to move out of his comfort zone and showcases his brooding anger once again to enthrall his fans," he concludes.
