The biopic of actress Savitri, Mahanati, was announced nearly eight months ago. However, the film was in pre-production ever since. After months of research, script work and casting, the film finally went on to the floors at a studio in Hyderabad on Monday.
Director Nag Ashwin and team have been finalising several minor details for a while now. The film was set to roll in the first week of May but the makers wanted to be sure of everything before actually starting the shoot.
Mahanati has a huge star cast with the likes of Keerthy Suresh, Samantha, Dulquer Salmaan, Vijay Devarakonda and Prakash Raj playing several prominent roles although the team is yet to announce who would play the roles of Telugu cinema legends NTR and ANR.
