Salaar Box Office: Prabhas Starrer Sees Dip but Continues to Soar Globally

Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran's much-anticipated action-drama "Salaar" has been creating waves at the box office, but its journey into the second week has seen a notable decline in collections. Despite the dip, the film continues to make headlines with its global success and has entered the coveted Rs 500 crore club, marking it as the seventh film of the year to achieve this remarkable feat.

"Salaar" made an impressive entry into theaters, amassing a staggering Rs 90.7 crore on its opening day. However, as it entered its second week, the collections witnessed a dip. On the eighth day, the film earned Rs 9.62 crore, bringing the total nett collection in India to Rs 317.62 crore. The Hindi-speaking audience contributed significantly to this figure, with the film earning Rs 110.48 crore in that belt alone, despite facing competition from Shah Rukh Khan's "Dunki."

The film maintained its stronghold in the Telugu-speaking states, with an occupancy of 27.11%, while the Malayalam and Tamil regions recorded occupancies of 17.17% and 19.32%, respectively. The global box office figures are equally impressive, with the film grossing a remarkable Rs 542.63 crore worldwide.

"Salaar" has not only captured the hearts of Indian audiences but has also made a significant impact on the global stage. With a global box office collection of Rs 542.63 crore, the film joins an elite club of movies that have crossed the coveted Rs 500 crore mark worldwide in 2023. The list includes notable releases like "Pathaan," "Jawan," "Leo," "Gadar 2," "Jailer," and "Animal."

While the box office numbers are soaring, "Salaar" has received a mixed response from critics and audiences alike. The film's unique blend of comic-book-style violence and 'Games Of Thrones'-type stylized action has been both praised and criticized. Shubhra Gupta, film critic at The Indian Express, noted in her review, "Till the violence in Prabhas-Prithviraj-starrer is comic-book and ‘Games Of Thrones’-type stylised, you can find a way to rationalize it; the trouble ratchets up when it becomes more real."

"Salaar" may be facing a dip in its box office numbers as it progresses into its second week, but its remarkable global performance and entry into the Rs 500 crore club underscore its enduring popularity. The film's unique storytelling and high-octane action sequences continue to resonate with audiences, solidifying Prabhas' status as a global star. As "Salaar" continues its cinematic journey, it leaves an indelible mark on the industry, proving that it's not just about the numbers but the lasting impact a film can have on the hearts of viewers worldwide.
