Three years ago, when the film Devi l- The Secret Agent, starring Kalyanram, was in an early stage of writing, director Naveen Medaram approached Elnaaz Norouzi for a special song. She liked the concept and came on board. However, it took so much time for things to materialise that she began to think it was not happening.
“Eventually things fell in place! Producer Abhishek Nama said he made changes to the script to make the film bigger,” Elnaaz shares, adding that the makers now also want her to make a special appearance.
The Iranian actress and model says shooting for the number has been a great experience. “The schedules were hectic, so I did not get time to rehearse the dance as much as I would have loved to. But choreographer Brinda Master held my hand and made sure that I had fun grooving for the number. The song has come out fantastically,” she shares.
In her special appearance, Elnaaz will be seen in as a foreigner. The makers asked her whether she would dub for her lines in Telugu. While admitting that she was initially apprehensive, and did indeed find it challenging, the actress says, “Thankfully, my film team helped me with the lines.” “As a foreigner, my lines are a mix of Telugu and English. So preparation and approach were rather natural,” she says.
“I have enjoyed working in the Telugu film,” says Elnaaz, adding that it was particularly gratifying, given the global recognition that films from the industry, like KGF, RRR and Baahubali have been getting. She says she would in fact love to do more work in Tollywood. “Although Telugu was not my language, the makers still chose me, so that’s a validation of my past work and also how open filmmakers here are to welcome new talent. The kind of confidence they had in me gave me a great boost,” she explains.
