Abu Dhabi: Tollywood Megastar Chiranjeevi received an award for Outstanding Achievement in Indian Cinema at the ongoing IIFA Utsavam in Yas Land, Abu Dhabi. Senior Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi and lyricist, Javed Akhtar presented the award.
Addressing the gathering at the massive Etihad Arena in Yas Island, Chiranjeevi thanked the Telugu Film Industry as well as fans for their unwavering support amid a huge round of applause and standing ovation from the audience.
“In the past, I have come here as a guest to hand over awards. But this is the first time I am here to receive the award which is an honour in itself. Thanks to all my fans for making me a Megastar and I am indebted to them for life. I urge them all to continue to root for all the artists in the industry,” said the Padma Vibushan awardee, adding that it was an honour to receive the award from stalwarts like Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar.
The event was hosted by Tollywood actors Rana Daggubati and Teja Sajja. Present among the guests were a galaxy of stars from across the Indian film industry, including Nasser, Brahmanandam, Priyadarshan, Priyamani, Jayaraman, Sarathkumar, Radhika, Varalaxmi, Karan Johar among others. The 24th Edition of the IIFA Festival is a three day event and celebrates the best of Indian cinema.
