Did Samantha refuses to play Goddess?
If Chennai sources are to be believed, leading Telugu and Bollywood actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has reportedly declined to play the role of Goddess Amman in the upcoming Tamil film ‘Mukkuthi Amman 2’. “Samantha was approached to don the divine role but she politely declined it although she liked the team and concept,” says a source. Pretty actress Nayantara played Goddess in the first part and actor-director R J Balaji was looking to cast another top heroine in his sequel. “Samantha was probably worried about her glam girl image which she has gained over the years with her selection of movies and with her ultra-modern looks on her social media handles and wanted to stick to the same,” he adds. Now, the makers are looking to replace her with talented actress Trisha and talks are underway.
Samantha's last song ‘Oo Antava’ set the internet on fire and her sensuous dance movements gripped the youth and masses alike worldwide. ‘She wants to do heroine roles for a few more years in Bollywood and Tollywood and looking to work with big stars like Salman, Allu Arjun, Vijay, and others, so she has to pick her roles with caution and understanding,’ he points out. She is also doing another glam-centric role in the Hindi web series ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ opposite Varun Dhawan to expand her fan base.
Meanwhile, Samantha has turned torch-bearer of female-centric movies in Telugu with hits like ‘OH Baby’ and ‘Yashoda’ and launched her next ‘Maa Inti Bangaram’. ‘She is trying to balance between lover girl roles with author-backed roles and keeping her stocks soaring,’ he concluded.
