Did you know that Pawan Kalyan was once replaced by Ravi Teja ?
Pawan Kalyan, the Powerstar of Telugu cinema, has had his share of missed opportunities, turning down roles in several iconic hits including Pokiri, Athadu, and Amma Nanna Oka Tamil Ammayi. Surprisingly, another blockbuster he nearly headlined was the 2009 smash hit Kick, which eventually became one of the most memorable films in Ravi Teja’s career. This little-known detail was revealed by Ram Talluri, the producer of Pawan Kalyan and Surender Reddy’s upcoming project, which is currently on hold.
Ram Talluri shared that the initial plan for Kick involved casting Pawan Kalyan as the lead. “Surender Reddy had developed the story with Pawan Kalyan Garu in mind, and when we narrated it to him, he was instantly excited,” Talluri recounted. “He even hugged Surender Reddy after the narration and expressed how pleased he was with the concept. Although he regretted missing out on Kick, he was thrilled about being part of our new project, which has a similar vibe and energy.”
According to Ram Talluri, Surender Reddy initially approached Pawan Kalyan with the idea of Kick, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the collaboration didn’t pan out. As history would have it, Ravi Teja stepped into the role, and his performance, combined with Reddy’s direction, made Kick one of Telugu cinema’s most entertaining films of all time.
While Kick turned into a significant milestone for Ravi Teja, Pawan Kalyan’s fans can only imagine what might have been. For now, they’re eagerly awaiting updates on Pawan’s next project with Surender Reddy, which promises to deliver the same high-energy entertainment.
