Double iSmart Sold for Rs 22 Cr in Telugu States, Set for Independence Day Release

The much-hyped action film ‘Double iSmart’ has been reportedly sold for a fancy price in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. “The combination of Ram Pothineni and Puri Jagannadh has triggered some interest around the action adventure. Hence, distributors have bought the film for Rs 22 crore plus in the two Telugu states and it is decent enough price,” says an exhibitor, who adds, “Probably, the big success of their earlier movie ‘iSmart Shankar’ has given the confidence to buyers and hoping to recreate the magic with the sequel as well,” he adds.

Despite his earlier film ‘Liger biting the dust, director Puri Jagannadh has again made a commercial entertainer loaded with action and romance and B-town star Sanjay Dutt playing the baddy has also evoked good interest. “Sanjay Dutt is doing ‘Double iSmart’ after impressing in ‘KGF and ‘Leo’ and carries a swag and inimitable style to make baddy roles more curious and colorful,” he points out.

Nonetheless, among Independence Day releases, Double iSmart is expected to get more 350 theatres in two Telugu states and stay ahead of other movies. “Exhibitors are willing to give more screens for this action adventure and hoping to mint some money,” he concludes.
