Young sensation Vijay Deverakonda, who celebrates his birthday today, seems determined to reinvent himself as a full-fledged action star in Tollywood. After charming audiences as a lovable romantic hero in films like Pelli Choopulu and again showcasing his softer side in Geetha Govindam, Vijay stunned everyone with his intense, aggressive performance in Arjun Reddy. Since then, the actor has constantly experimented with his image and screen presence.

Now, the actor is reportedly aiming for a complete transformation into an action hero with his upcoming films. “Vijay wants to break away from the lover-boy image and enter a bigger league with high-octane action entertainers,” says a source.

According to insiders, Vijay has been rigorously working on his physique and overall makeover for his upcoming film Ranabaali, where he is expected to showcase a much fiercer and rugged side. “This transition is more of a necessity than a choice. In today’s pan-India market, large-scale action films have become the gateway to stardom. Vijay understands that action entertainers can elevate him into the A-list bracket and help him compete with the biggest stars,” the source adds.

Interestingly, Vijay is teaming up once again with director Rahul Sankrityan after their successful collaboration in Taxiwaala. The announcement poster of Ranabaali features a mysterious idol standing amid a barren landscape, instantly sparking curiosity among movie lovers. The caption reads, “Epics are not written, they are etched in the blood of heroes,” while the tagline, “The legend of the cursed land,” hints at a grand and intense action saga.

Meanwhile, Vijay’s other ambitious project with director Ravi Kiran Kola, tentatively referred to as VD15 and reportedly titled Rowdy Janardhana, also promises to present the actor in a never-before-seen mass avatar. The announcement poster showcased a blood-soaked machete, signaling a raw and violent rural action drama.

The film’s powerful tagline — “The blood on my hands is not of their death… but of my own rebirth…” — has already generated massive buzz among fans. Sources reveal that Vijay will undergo another major physical transformation for the role, which is expected to portray him as a rugged rural character for the very first time in his career.

From romantic hero to intense action performer, Vijay Deverakonda seems to be carefully scripting a powerful reinvention in Tollywood. If these projects click at the box office, the actor could well emerge as the industry’s next major action star.
