HanuMan beats Karthikeya 2 in Hindi belt, Ram Mandir to shore up its collections
A leading Hindi distributor claims that the much-hyped Telugu film ‘HanuMan’ has surpassed the collections of “Karthikeya 2’ in North India and still going strong. “Hanuman made Rs 21 crores net collections in North India and crossed Rs 20 crore collections of ‘Karthikeya 2’ and still holding well in over 400-odd theatres across India,” he says and adds, “Hindi distributor Anil Thadani proved that he is best in the business of releasing Hindi dubbed versions in good numbers theatres and proper centers and could make money,” he adds.
With the Hindi film ‘Merry Christmas’ starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi failing to attract viewers in B and C centers, Prashanth Varma's directorial is minting money at the box office. “Contrary to reports that ‘Merry Christmas’ would give ‘Hanuman’ stiff competition among Hindi film viewers, but Telugu film attracted more eyeballs and turned the tide in its favor. Riding on superhero story revolving around Lord Hanuman factor,” he points out.
He claims that 'HanuMan' could garner more than Rs 35 crores since devotion is in the air as the media and people are awaiting the historic Ram Temple Consecration in Ayodhya, which is helping the socio-fantasy film to rock in theatres.
“It was planned or otherwise, but Hauman's movie revolving around Lord Hanuman is being boosted by the real-life event of Ram Mandir's inauguration by Prime Minister Modi and the whole of North India is reverberating with chants of Lord Ram and Hanuman.
The film will be doing well for three to four more weeks in UP, Bihar, and other states to become one of highest grosser among Telugu dubbed movies, thanks to Ram Mandir mela,” he concludes.
