Popular producer Abhishek Agarwal who made blockbusters like ‘Kashmir Files’ and 'Karthikeya 2' has joined hands with superstar Ram Charan to jointly produce a magnum opus ‘The India House’ with Nikhil Siddarth and Saiee Manjrekar. He tells Deccan Chronicle that Ram Charan liked the revolutionary theme and agreed to be part of this prestigious project.
Q: How could you convince reigning star Ram Charan to co-produce this film?
A: It was an interesting turn of events and I am glad about it. Actually, in the course of our discussions about my next film with common friends, I talked about this period saga. After getting to know about it, Ram Charan spared some time for the story narration. Director Ram Vamsi Krishna gave a detailed narration and Ram Charan was floored by the script and instantly agreed to join hands. Our period drama set in 1905 explores the themes of love and revolution and it was launched at Virupaksha Temple in Hampi (Kishkinda).
Q: Ram Charan riding on big hits and a quite busy actor? How come production?
A: No doubt, he is the most happening actor and doing mega budget movies. On the other hand, he is also planning to produce some unique movies to expand his brand equity. He will be rolling out movies along with his friend Vikram Reddy of UV Creations. They have perfect tuning and Ram Charan has an eye for novel storylines.
Q: You made the thematic film ‘Kashmir Files’ and then commercial film ‘Tiger Nageswara Rao’ and now a period movie?
A: I have resolved to make films around untold stories and this period movie falls into my scheme of things. I can’t just make regular and clichéd movies, rather like to tread my own path. The films I have made were ground-breaking stuff and like to continue with the same zeal and enthusiasm besides promoting new talent.
Q: Is India House a pan-India project and we heard it is being made with Rs 80 crores?
A: I can’t reveal the figures but it would be one of the costliest films in Tollywood. And also, it is a perfect pan-India movie with a universal theme that could strike a chord with masses across India. Along with Nikhil and Saiee Manjrekar, we plan to rope in top Bollywood actors and stars from other languages to deliver a heart-wrenching film with a bigger cast and vision.
